Fishing gear is widely used in fishery production. Its correct use and maintenance are of great significance for reducing costs, improving economic benefits and extending the service life. To properly store fishing gear, we should first understand the physical and chemical properties of various fishing gear. For example, some production units expose ethylene and nylon meshes to the sun for a long time, which causes the strength of the mesh to decrease, reduces the service life of the fishing gear, and often causes great economic losses. Therefore, the following points should be noted in the storage and maintenance of fishing gear:
(1) Before storing fishing gear, the dirt on the fishing gear, such as mud, fish grease and other attachments, should be washed clean with fresh water, then dried, and the floating, sinking and other accessories should be removed and stored separately. Before storing fishing hooks, they should be washed clean, sharpened, and coated with anti-rust oil, and then stored in a dry place.
(2) The storage place should maintain air circulation and no direct sunlight. For fishing gear with a small number and small size, it can be tied and hung on the roof beam. Fishing gear that is large in number and volume should be stored in a warehouse with a high foundation and good ventilation.
(3) Check frequently during storage. When the weather is clear and the air is dry, open the doors and windows of the warehouse to allow air to circulate. In rainy or high-temperature conditions, the doors and windows of the warehouse should be tightly closed and not opened at will. More attention should be paid to warehouses during rainy or hot seasons, because nets and ropes made of plant fibers are prone to mold. Once the weather is clear, they should be immediately exposed to the sun to dry. If necessary, appropriate fungicides can be sprayed. Insecticides and rodent control should also be paid attention to in the warehouse.
(4) Although synthetic fibers have better corrosion resistance than plant fibers, some synthetic fibers such as acrylic fibers and nylon will also produce mold spots under long-term high temperature and high humidity conditions, and the material strength will also be affected. Therefore, attention should be paid to ventilation and drying of these fishing gear made of synthetic fibers. Most synthetic fibers lack good sunlight resistance. Do not expose fishing gear made of such materials to sunlight for a long time. Some synthetic fiber meshes should not be folded or bent excessively, so as not to affect the strength of the mesh and reduce its service life.
(5) During or after the operation, the fishing gear should be washed and debris removed. This is not only closely related to the fishing effect, but also to the protection of the fishing gear. If the debris attached to the mesh is not removed, the mesh will be torn due to uneven force during the operation.
